We got married. And like most couples, we spent months making hundreds of decisions while quietly wondering if we were doing it right.
The photographers we loved most weren't the ones who arrived with the most gear. They were the ones who already felt like they knew us — who could read a room, disappear when the moment called for it, and show up fully when it didn't.
We built Bella Vita because that's who we wanted to be for someone else.
Between us, we bring over 20 years of photography and film — rooted in fashion and lifestyle work, which taught us that the most powerful images happen between the posed ones. The glance. The exhale. The moment you didn't know anyone was watching.
We're based in Montreal. We travel anywhere. And we take on a limited number of weddings each year — not because we have to, but because every couple we say yes to deserves our full presence, not a fraction of it.
If you're here, you're probably looking for more than a photographer and videographer.
Before Bella Vita, I spent years as a fashion and fitness photographer, published, working with agencies, building a career around reading people under pressure.
What that work actually taught me had nothing to do with lighting ratios or lenses. It taught me how to see the moment just before the moment. The breath someone takes before they let go. The way emotion travels across a face before the person even knows it's there.
Then I met Melissa.
She was from Upstate New York. I was in Montreal. We did the long-distance thing, then the engagement thing, then the wedding thing — and somewhere in the middle of planning our own day, we realized we were seeing the industry from the inside in a way most photographers never do.
We knew what couples actually needed. Not just great images and films. Someone who had been there.
Bella Vita came from that and it's still built around that same idea — that the best thing we can bring to your wedding isn't just skill. It's understanding, empathy and a helping hand.
The part most photographers and videographers don't talk about. Planning a wedding means making hundreds of decisions while everyone around you has an opinion. By the time you get to choosing photographers, you're often exhausted before the conversation even starts. We try to make this part easy.
How we shoot: We stay out of your way — until the moment calls for us not to. Our background in fashion and lifestyle photography trained us to anticipate, not direct. Natural light, unobtrusive presence, and just enough gentle guidance to make sure you never look back at a photo and wonder what was happening.
How we edit: Film-inspired tones, consistent colour, true skin. We don't chase trends and we don't over-process. Your photos should look like you on the best day of your life — not like a filter that was popular the year you got married.
How we deliver: A curated preview arrives quickly — because we know the waiting is hard. Your full gallery and film follow on schedule. No chasing. No silence. No wondering.
Before your wedding:
Inquiry → Discovery of your needs → Custom proposal → Initial call → Pre-wedding day logistics planning call
We get to know you before we ever show up. The planning call alone sets us apart — it's where we talk through the day's timeline, your family dynamics, the moments you're most nervous about, and the ones you don't want us to miss.
We don't outsource. The people you speak with are the people who show up. One team, fully invested, clear communication from the moment you reach out.
